Jul. 31st, 2013 11:46 pmDear Prof. <...>,
the organizing committee of <...> has run into an unexpected (for us) problem: we cannot get a official invitation for the citizens of Georgia. I tried to find out what can be done but it seems to me that it is not a local glitch but some statewide policy with few exceptions (I was told that only relatives and people involved in some official international collaboration in physics could get invitations). We realize that this is the responsibility of the organizing committee and that probably we should not have <...> in such a country, but we did not know this until recently, and now it is too late to change the location, people already made the travel plans, etc.
I don't know what can be done; we can try to have your talk by Skype. Or may be you can find somebody to present your result, or something else.
Sorry again,
Alexander Shen, on behalf of the organizing commitee
